Abstract
In the paper, a deadlock-free method for access to common data in a dual-port RAM is presented. Deadlock may occur if a local bus lock signal activity is not strictly limited to semaphore operations only. In this case deadlock may be avoided by granting both the dual-port RAM and the system bus to the local processor. The method can be easily implemented in the system and it only insignificantly decreases the performance of the system.
