Abstract
Multimodal transport in Europe is underutilized. We propose an explanation based on the underuse by actors of the logistics industry of tools and technologies for interfacing information systems and radio frequencies in the identification of logistics flows. This adoption by the various links in the supply chain is always postponed because the economic benefits are not perceived. We propose to reassess these efficiency benefits using other criteria. Shippers, their customers and carriers are penalized by malfunctions, delays and other deviations from normal flow. This approach is based on the analysis carried out within the framework of the TransLogisTlC project financed by the Walloon Region in Belgium. Thanks to the new services offered in the form of shared access software, the means and results presented apply in particular to SMEs in transport and logistics services, which make up the main sector in Europe.
