Abstract
The objective of this work was to evaluate the water quality used in the Ciep – 216 Prefeito Juarez Antunes school in the Vila Martins, in the municipality of Nova Iguaçu – RJ, in terms of physicochemical and microbiological parameters. This state school was selected for water collection at two points: kitchen faucets and drinking fountain for analysis and comparison of parameters such as total coliforms, heterotrophic bacteria and Escherichia coli, as well as color, pH, turbidity and residual chlorine level, ammonia, total alkalinity, hardness, iron, oxygen consumed. The results showed that the water used by the school for various purposes, such as food preparation, personal hygiene and thirst quenching, is within the standards established by the ministry of health, drinking water.
