Abstract

Breast cancer is the main cause of death in the female population in almost all regions of Brazil, in addition to being an important global public health problem, due to high incidence and morbidity rates. The aim of the work is to evaluate the quality of life and psychosocial support of patients diagnosed with breast cancer. It refers to an observational study, in which interviews were carried out with women diagnosed with breast cancer treated at the Hospital Regional de Presidente Prudente. It was observed that the more negative the patients' self-perception was in relation to the support they received, their ability to carry out daily activities and their post-surgical mood, the worse their self-perception of quality of life was. This study highlights the importance of adopting multidisciplinary, patient-centered approaches and promoting a support network, which are essential for women to have a better quality of life.
