Abstract
AbstractThe Auxiliary Power Supply (APS) system converts power for air conditioning, lighting, doors, signaling system and other electronic devices. A system with high reliability is critical for interior comfort and ride comfort. This paper described the APS system of new Boston Orange and Red Line trains. The APS system is composed of Auxiliary Power Inverter (API), Low Voltage Power Supply (LVPS), battery, Dead Battery Power Supply (DBPS) and power supply network. The API circuit consists of an input circuit, a DC/DC converter, three-phase Constant Voltage Constant Frequency (CVCF) inverter and related apparatus. The LVPS circuit consists of input circuit, a DC/DC converter and related apparatus. The control strategy was introduced accordingly. The countermeasures for API failure, LVPS failure and dead battery were considered and provided. The APS system reports status, faults, snapshots, etc., to Vehicle Monitoring System (VMS) through Ethernet. The APS system fulfills customer requirements. The trains of both Orange and Red Lines have went to revenue service.KeywordsAPSLVPSAPIDC/DCCVCF
