Abstract

Only one view of a picture is enough for a person to see strange defects, such as hairs, points, scratches, that, although small in size and contrast, stand out against the general scene. Large spots and stroke marks are also visible. In this paper a method of automatic detection of a wide range of point and extended defects in the pictures and correct determination of their dislocation areas is offered. The algorithm of quick median filtering by a large window and its modification removing the effect of prolonged constant fields at the output of a large median filter is described in the framework of solving the main task.
