Abstract
In this paper we present the special automated device for vertical colloidal deposition to prepare photonic crystal opal thin films. The vertical deposition method has gained great interest because of its simplicity and possibility of the conditions variation. The device consists of the following three main parts: reducer, velocity control system, vibration-damping system. The device is useful for optimizing the films deposition conditions necessary to obtain the desired film properties. The results of the reflectance measurements and atomic force microscopy investigation of deposited opal films show that the automated device use was successful for polystyrene and silica colloidal particles.
