Based on thematic and typological analysis various types of author’s columns were distinguished, namely: political, maidan, revolutionary, military, mediacritical, cultural (educational, artistic, musical, literary), linguistic (linguo-political), social, historical, economic, legal, sports, medical, domestic, religious, philosophical, mythological, on-line, travel, gastronomic, urban, ecological, architectural, agrarian, axiological, etc.It has been revealed that the thematic vector of columns in the magazine «The Ukrainian Week» for the analyzed period shifted in accordance with the socio-political situation in the country. For example, the topic of Maidan was popular starting from the end of 2013, then it was the Revolution of Dignity, and now it is the topic of war, which is still one of the priority issues. Political, critical and cultural columns are also dominant in the magazine. This magazine’s columnists prove to be erudite and well-informed, they demonstrate competence in many areas. Even a narrow topic is considered in a broad socio-political context. Moreover, the same author is capable of writing columns about war, culture or language at an unfailingly high level. The columnists mainly analyze the causes of the current political situation in the country and suggest ways to improve the political future, criticize the ruling regime for infantilism, treachery, covetousness and irresponsibility, discuss the tense international relations between Ukraine and Russia and focus on the Kremlin’s aggressive policy. The authors criticizes certain Ukrainian and pro-Russian mass media in Ukraine for the ineffectiveness of reforms, unprofitability, low-quality content, anti-Ukrainian attitude, manipulating, misleading information and propagating a foreign system of values. Generally, the columns in the magazine reflect modern Ukrainian realities, cover various thematic lines. In the future we are planning to study the topics of the author’s columns in the online newspaper «Ukrainska Pravda».
