Abstract

The costs and benefits associated with the creation and ongoing maintenance of services such as Remote Commercial Television Service (RCTS) and the Homestead and Community Broadcasting Satellite Service (HACBSS) operated by the Australian Broadcasting Corporation (ABC), to extend television access to regional Australia, are examined. The financial viability of future AUSSAT-based services to remote Australia is questioned.
