Abstract

Abstract F. L. Čelakovský was one of the major poets of early Czech National Revival (národní obrození). He became famous for his books of adaptions of Russian and Czech folk poetry, „Ohlas písní ruských“ (1829; Echoes of Russian Songs) and „Ohlas písní èeských“ (1839; Echoes of Czech Songs). Less known are his „Selanky“ (Idylls), a group of poems that were written and partially published in the 1820s. As will be shown the texts as a whole represent the transition from traditional idyllic genre (following Geßner) to the modernized type of a national idyll which, on its part, was one of the main impulses for the general ,idyllization‘ of Czech culture in the further development of obrození.
