Unexpected circumstances due to the virus or host may emerged in hepatitis B virus (HBV) serology. Atypical serological profiles in HBV infection may cause especially diagnosis and follow-up problems. Isolated positivity of antibodies aganist core antigen (anti-HBc), occult HBV infection, anti-HBc negative chronic HBV infection and concurrent positivity of hepatitis B surface antigen and its antibody can be encountered as an atypical serological profile in the course of HBV infection.
