Abstract

The attitude that is developed toward a profession is the most important determination of the individuals’ achievement in the profession. For this reason, people who will conduct the teaching profession that necessitates patience and self- denial must have the postive attitudes toward teaching profession. The aim of this study is to investigate the attitudes of the science and art faculty students and education faculty students attend the non-thesis graduated program toward teaching profession for different variables. The sample of the study formed by 103 graduated students of the science and art faculty and 117 the education faculty students that attend the non-thesis graduated program at the secondary science and mathematics subjects department in Kazim Karabekir Education Faculty. According to the results, there is no difference between teacher candidates’ attitudes towards teaching profession for faculty variable. But it was found difference between the candidates’ attitudes toward teaching profession for the reason of the choice of teaching profession. Also it was found difference between education faculty students’ attitudes for their gender and it was found that science and art faculty students’ attitudes towards teaching profession was not affected from the order of department choice before entering to the university.
