Abstract
Bioluminescence is a known method that has been used from many years in the pharmaceutical and brewery industries [12]. Wider introduction of this method into the practice was limited by time-consuming procedures, imperfect equipment, reagent instability etc. The progress in the technology of photon detectors, electronic circuits, and reagents has resulted in renewed interest in bioluminescence. NASA exhibited attention to the benefits of this technique during their search for life efforts. Private companies have also found the advantages of this technique and have implemented them in their production processes, largely in quality control of hygiene. So the re-emergence of bioluminescence is connected with, among others, its high sensitivity, near real time or rapid analyses, and point of interest analysis, which is away from the laboratory. The versatility of bioluminescence application is worthy of attention, making it one of the more useful analytical methods.
