Abstract

The basic literary data on the connection between the symptoms of atopic dermatitis of face and neck with the lipophilic fungi Malassezia are presented in the article. The Malassezia fungi are presented in the atopic dermatitis skin in a greater amount compared with the healthy individuals and can play as superantigens the trigger role in the pathogenesis of atopic dermatitis. Classical local antifungal medicines and some calciumneurine antagonists are shown to be effective in the treatment of atopic dermatitis. The results of the pilot research support this statement.
