Abstract
Mesoporous material SBA-15 was modified by alumina via an atomic layer deposition method and used for the reaction of methanol dehydration. The samples were characterized by x-ray powder diffraction, transmission electron microscopy, solid-state nuclear magnetic resonance, and Brunauer-Emmett-Teller (BET) methods. The results revealed that Al had been successfully incorporated into the framework of SBA-15 after modification. Both Brönsted and Lewis acid sites coexist on the alumina-modified SBA-15 surface. The alumina-modified SBA-15 with Al2O3/SiO2 ratios of 8 wt% has higher activity compared with titania- and tungsten oxide-modified SBA-15.
