Abstract

The aim of this chapter is to provide a framework for understanding the policies of different Atlantic states and social forces in the circumstances that accompanied the demise of the Soviet bloc. It is an argument of this chapter that ultimately, the collapse of the USSR and the defeat of the rapprochement between important segments of West German capital (and implicitly, segments of organized labour) and the tottering Soviet giant, may be seen as part of a single process.KeywordsInvestment BankFinancial GroupForeign BankGerman BankSoviet BlocThese keywords were added by machine and not by the authors.
