Abstract

Reflections on athletics teaching methods at school are contained in the analysis of the teaching-learning process (including the application of models and techniques), in didactic-pedagogical aspects, which favor the construction of athletics knowledge. The present study sought to analyze the contributions of athletics and the Sport Education model in Physical Education classes. The research was carried out through a systematic review, with data collection between March and May 2023 in electronic databases: ERIC, MEDLINE/PubMed, CAPES Portal, SAGE Journals, Scielo, Scopus, and Web of Science. The results showed 11 studies that address two themes: 1- Didactics of athletics; 2- Performance of skills. It was observed that few studies relate athletics to Sport Education, and the existing ones are mostly concentrated in the same country. We highlight the relevance of the pedagogical focus on athletics in dialogue with the performance of skills (motor, cognitive and socio-affective) present in the Sport Education model, bearing in mind that the development of that model can increase the educational results expected from the student-centered intervention.
