Abstract

AbstractThe flow along a flat plate of finite length develops – near the trailing edge – into a double deck structure when it is a jet layer with quiescent outer flow and into a triple deck structure when it is a boundary layer with streaming outer flow. It is shown here that the transfer from one structure to another is singular; requiring matching of two main decks. The double deck structure is, in essence, a triple deck structure with collapsing upper deck.
