Abstract
Abstract An extended asymptotic theory for the thermal conductivity of binary mixtures near plait points and critical mixing points is presented. The essential improvement upon previous theories is caused by the systematic inclusion of the background contribution in the kinetic coefficients. New experimental data obtained for carbon dioxide-ethane mixtures close to the line of liquid-vapor critical points are consistent with the extended asymptotic theory.
