J. Abstract "Discrepant asymmetry" stars are cool giants which show the opposite sense of asymmetry in the emission cores of Ca and Mg (i.e., red peak dominant in Mg, blue peak dominant in Ca). The author suggests that these discrepancies can be understood in terms of corotating interaction regions in the winds.
