Abstract

The cross-section dσ/d M and various asymmetries (charge asymmetry, helicity asymmetry or lepton polarization and charge-helicity asymmetry) of the lepton pair produced in hadronic collisions: p (\bar p )+ p →(γ, Z 1 0 , Z 2 0 …)+ X → l \bar l + X are calculated by assuming the Drell-Yan mechanism. The formulas are presented in the general form to be applicable to any gauge model of underlying electroweak interactions. Numerical results are presented for the cross-section and the asymmetries of the lepton pair produced in \bar p p collision at \(\sqrt{s}{=}540\) GeV and in p p collision at \(\sqrt{s}{=}800\) GeV, employing the Weinberg-Salam, SU(2)×U(1)×[U(1)]' and SU(2)×U(1)×[SU(2)]' models. Clearly distinguishable signals are revealed.
