Abstract
In this paper, the main attention is focused on the optical breather structures of the Manakov system, which can be used to describe the optical pulse propagation in photorefractive crystals and randomly birefringent fibers. The breather solutions of the system are constructed by the Darboux transformation method. The asymmetrical and self-similar structures of optical breathers are observed for the first time.
