Abstract

A captive radiated tortoise (Astrochelys radiate) was presented with cloacal prolapse and anorexia 4 days ago. After examination, colon prolapse was diagnosed. Because the prolapsed tissue was necrotic, the coloplexy was performed. Ten days after surgery, the patients spirit and appetite were recovered. Colon prolapse is one type of the cloacal prolapse. According to the vital or necrosis tissue of prolapse and individual difference, reptiles can be treated with internal medicine or surgery. The patient must be treated as an emergency when the prolapsed tissue is exposed and become dehydrated, traumatized, infected and necrotic.
