Abstract

SummaryA new species of Asterina, A. arxii‐batistae was found on living leaves of Inga sp. and Tachigali multijuga, collected in the Reserva Ecológica Michelin and Parque Estadual da Serra do Conduru, municipality of Igrapiúna and Uruçuca, respectively, in Bahia state, Brazil. Description, illustrations and comments on the taxonomic and morphological characteristics are presented. This is the first species of Asterina found on fabaceous hosts in Brazil and the first species on these host genera.
