Abstract

Polyalkylacrylates (PAA) lamellae have been crystallized in the presence of globular camphor molecules. High resolution images show the two-dimensional lattice image (5 Å) of PAA and patches attributed to camphor molecules. The calculated images prove that camphor molecules are included in this lattice, each one replacing seven alkyl chains of the PAA. The camphor molecules show a short-range order (≈ 40 Å) in the PAA lattice. This order is interpreted in terms of long-range elastic interactions.
