Abstract

Objective To evaluate the correlation between psychological stress and semen quality by Meta-analysis. Methods Cochrane Library, Pubmed, Medline, Springerlink, Chinese Biomedical Literature Database (CMB), CNKI and Wanfang Database were searched by network database to find out the relationship between psychological stress and semen quality. The included studies were screened according to the inclusion and exclusion criteria. After data extraction and quality evaluation, the data were statistically processed by R language. Results Thirteen studies were included, with a total sample size of 4 936 patients. The results of Meta-analysis showed that the psychological stress was significantly negative correlated with sperm count (r=-0.312), sperm density (r=-0.327) and progress motility (r=-0.496, P<0.001). The psychologica stress was negatively correlated with rapid progress motility (r=-0.545, P=0.028), and psychological stress had no correlation with sperm morphology (r=-0.218, P=0.117). Subgroup analysis showed that the association between psychological stress and male semen quality was greater in 2010 to now than in 1999 to 2009. Conclusion The psychological stress is negatively related to the semen quality of male. Attention to men’s psychological health will contribute to their reproductive health.
