Abstract

AbstractInnovative engineering education plays a vital role in promoting inclusive and sustainable industrialization worldwide. Creative Mechanical Design is a course open to senior students and graduate students for enhancing their creative design capability. The shortcoming of the current creative mechanical design course, such as time-consuming model and simulation, fewer innovative schemes and prototypes, leads students to have little chance to practice creative thinking training. This paper proposes a virtual assistant teaching platform for creative mechanical design to automatically help students operating 3D modeling, simulation, and optimization selection of creative design schemes within a minimal experimental time. Thus, the platform dramatically enhances the efficiency of the creative design process. As a result, students are freed from onerous innovation processes and have more energy to engage in creative thinking training from different perspectives and compare innovative techniques.
