Abstract
At the VDI conference on “Commercial Vehicles” in June 2001 in Neu-Ulm, Dr. Hartmut Marwitz, Head of Mercedes-Benz Truck Development at DaimlerChrysler AG, reviewed the status and perspectives for assistance systems in trucks. This article summarizes the main transport-related and social-related topics dealt with in that presentation and looks at existing Mercedes-Benz assistance and guidance systems as well as systems currently in development.
