Abstract

This paper presents condition assessment procedure for underground cable system. Major components of underground cable system consists of cable, joint, termination, manhole and duct bank. The inspection and testing during routine maintenance consisting of visual inspection, partial discharge measurement and sheath voltage measurement are analyzed to setup conditional score of each major component. The scoring and weighting technique is applied to calculate the health index of each major component, which is subsequently used to calculate the overall health index of underground cable system. Developed procedure is implemented with the dynamic programing via web application for condition assessment of underground cable feeders in an industrial plant in Thailand.
