Abstract

Statement of the problem. The assessment of the accident rate and the influence of various road factors and work technologies on it is necessary to improve traffic safety. Accident rate assessment methods can be used at various stages of the highways life cycle. The reasonable choice of initial information is required for such calculations. Results. The analysis of existing methods for assessing traffic safety and the possibility of their use at various stages of the transport structures life cycle was performed. The stage of road operation and the most dangerous winter period for traffic were studied. Time diagrams for various winter maintenance technologies have been developed. Calculations to assess traffic safety by season of the year using the example of the specific road section with diagnostic data were made. Diagrams for the extent of sites with varying degrees of traffic hazard in different seasons of the year and for several road winter maintenance technologies have been created. Conclusions. Calculation results allow us to conclude that it is possible to use the proposed methodology for assessing accident rates at various stages of the highways life cycle.
