Abstract

The problem of instability of the geometry of the part "brake drum" when it is obtained from the casting by high-speed non-burnished turning, affecting the occurrence of the operational defect "noise/knock of the rear suspension", associated with the level of residual casting stresses, is indicated. A method for estimating the level of residual elastic deformations in parts and cast blanks based on the Davidenkov method is proposed. Using this technique, the elasticstress state in fi nished parts and castings in the delivery state and after annealing was analyzed. It is established that the infl uence of mechanical processing on the level of residual stresses for cast and annealed castings is generally nonlinear: mechanical processing increases the level of residual stresses in cast castings by 3,5 times compared to annealed.
