Abstract

Electric Vehicle (EV) usage across the world has rapidly increased in the recent times and has opened the doors for researchers working in the area of EV charging station (EVCS). The presence of EVs in India is equally growing and creating a charging infrastructure resource is a big challenge. In this paper, biogas–solar powered EVCS is proposed for a typical location in South Indian state of Karnataka. Techno economic assessment and environmental analysis of PV-Grid with Biogas Powered EVCS in a microgrid was comprehensively carried out using Hybrid Optimization of Multiple Energy Resources (HOMER) software. Results obtained demonstrated that the dependency on the grid purchase was significantly reduced with improved environment benefits in terms of lesser CO2 emissions. This study shall be beneficial in renewables based EVCS infrastructure development.
