Abstract

ABSTRACT Green roofs play a significant role in enhancing the sustainability of urban areas. However, adoption of this technology in many developing countries is slow due to lack of local studies. This study aims to encourage adoption by an assessment in the Philippines with respect to various sustainability indicators, with a cost- benefit analysis of commercially available green roof systems. The green roofs surveyed generally met minimum standards, but performance improvements could translate to more benefits. Cost differences between green and conventional concrete roofs remain significant.
