Assessment of Competences in Sustainability Management: Analyses to the Construct Dimensionality
Abstract. The paper discusses an examination of the dimensions of a competence model for sustainability management. A central assumption is that the dimensions of the competence model differ according to knowledge representation (i. e., declarative vs. schematic and strategic knowledge) and content area (i. e., business administration and sustainability from a societal perspective, as well as sustainability management). Study participants included 850 students from 16 universities in Germany, and the analyses were conducted on the basis of structural equation modeling. The results reveal an expectation-compliant finding whereby the types of knowledge addressed by different assessment formats and content requirements can be presented in two disjunct dimensions. On the one hand, the model analyses indicate a better fit to the multidimensional model, which distinguishes between declarative knowledge in the field of business administration and sustainability from a social perspective, while on the other hand, the analyses suggest a better fit to sustainability management.

Only limited evidence exists to explain competence in sustainability management. In sustainability research, especially value-related constructs are emphasized to predict sustainable behaviour. In addition, theoretical-conceptual considerations toward competence and some empirical analyses of competence measurement highlight the potential of affective-motivational dispositions to explain the performance in competence tests. Therefore, this paper measures the influence of affective-motivational dispositions toward the performance of competence in sustainability management. To measure the performance of competence in sustainability management, a simulation-based assessment is used. Based on existing findings of previous research scales toward the declarative knowledge about sustainable development, sustainability management and business administration are used as control variables. The analyses based on responses from 872 students and are done by structural equation models. Besides the declarative knowledge about sustainable development, an aversion to sustainability has a significant influence on the performance of competence in sustainability management. The motivation to act sustainably as well as interest-based constructs show no significant results.

Introduction. The process of globalization covers all spheres of life of the modern society. The volume of intercultural communication is significantly increasing. The number of business contacts between various industrial enterprises is growing. Due to the fact that the international partnership requires coordination and communication planning, the tasks of training specialists competent in the field of business communication, including foreign-language ones, are updated. One needs appropriate training for mastering the skills to formulate one’s idea correctly, to express it clearly and briefly, including the choice of the appropriate tone and format, the language units. You should also master the skills to analyze the received information, interpret the meaning and relevance. Knowledge, skills of foreign-language business communication is an important professional quality that is necessary for specialists involved in speechwriting and business administration. The purpose of the study is to present a projected model for training students in the field of Philology, whose profile is Speechwriting Business Administration for the implementation of business foreign language communication. There is a revealed contradiction between the insufficient development of theoretical and methodological grounds for the formation of the universal competence in the field of business foreign-language communication of the future bachelor in the field of speechwriting and business administration, on the one hand, and a social order for a competent bachelor of this profile, on the other hand. It conditioned the relevance of the study on planning the model of linguistic training, which allows future bachelors in the field of speechwriting and business administration to master successfully the universal competencies, primarily in the field of foreign-language business communication. In this we see the relevance of the study. Materials and methods. The regulatory documentation, scientific literature of domestic and foreign scientists on the problem of the research was studied and analyzed. The methodological foundations of the study are a set of approaches: competent, system-activity, communicative, professional-oriented. In the work we use theoretical research methods – analysis (the analysis of scientific literature and basic pedagogical concepts), synthesis, generalization, modeling. Study results. The study conducted by the authors made it possible to design a model of future bachelors, foreignlanguage and linguo-professional training in the field of speechwriting and business administration. It is aimed at mastering the universal competence in the process of studying a foreign language. The characteristics of the main structural blocks of the model (target, theoretical and methodological, meaningful, technological, diagnostic and effective) are presented. Conclusion. The further direction of the study was determined: the identification of the effectiveness of the developed model in the process of experimental training of future bachelors in the field of Philology, whose profile is Speechwriting and Business Administration.

In this paper, we substitute anecdotal with empirical evidence regarding the publication behavior of German business administration professors. We find that in particular the publication behavior of accounting researchers differs strongly from the publication behavior of researchers in other business administration fields with respect to (i) the national focus, (ii) the focus on practitioner journals, (iii) the focus on particularly renowned journals, and (iv) the holistic publication output. More precisely, we document that accounting professors have a stronger national focus, publish more in practitioner journals, and publish less in particularly renowned journals. Overall, our analyses document distinct differences in publication behavior across the fields of business administration, which should presumably being considered when evaluating the publication portfolios of professors across fields, e.g., in the context of resource allocation in business administration faculties.

This study was to analyze research trends in the field of business administration by applying text mining techniques. In particular, the 2008 global financial crisis caused many management difficulties for companies. It was intended to consider how these events were reflected in research trends. This study performed 'frequency analysis', 'TF-IDF analysis', and 'topic analysis' among the text mining techniques. First, before and after the global crisis, “management” and “leadership” were ranked top tier. Also 'leadership' and 'management' belonged to the top tier in the total period. Second, the most noticeable word was 'safety' before 2008. And 'integration' is the top priority after 2008. Thus, it was found that the business administration field dealt with 'integration' and 'decision making' meaningfully after 2008. Third, we found a paper that corresponds to the gamma value by topics. Key words explain these papers well. In this way, the meaning of extracted words was analyzed by applying text mining techniques, and research trends in the field of business administration were examined through this. In addition, words that appear important and words with special meanings were analyzed by comparing around 2008.

Purpose: In order to use a word as academic terminology, we must first take a look at the meaning of that word as it is commonly used and then consider whether or not the connotation of that word is suitable to be used as academic terminology. Presently, the word Pumjil(品質) is being used as academic terminology occupying an important position in the field of business administration in Korea and is usually translated into English as `quality'. The same is true in Japan. However, as is the case with many Korean words, the meaning that the word implies has a tendency to change gradually over time. This tendency can account for the changes or additions to the meaning a word connotes. Methods: This dissertation aims to escape from such biased ideas and study the meaning of ‘Pum-Jil品質’ from the view of humanities and exegetics. Then the natural definition of the word as far as business administration is concerned can be considered. Results: ‘Pum-Jil品質’ has been used amid changes in modern times(historic texts in both Korea and China. In Korea particularly, the word was used in the royal court until comparatively modern times.), and now it is also widely used in the field of business administration. In this process of change, a notable point is that ‘Pum-Jil品質’, which was originally used to mean ‘nature or character of a man’, took on a new meaning, ‘a certain quality of a thing or a good’. Conclusion: ‘Pum-Jil品質’ should require basic functional ‘quality’ of goods or services as a prerequisite. And the functional quality should meet consumers’ needs, as the pledge (trust; 信賴) for quality is between suppliers and consumers. Without consumer’s trust for goods, the relationship between suppliers and consumers cannot be maintained. ● Received 19 November 2015, 1st revised 24 November 2015, accepted 25 November 2015 Corresponding Author(sirh@centerworld.com) c 2016, The Korean Society for Quality Management This is an Open Access article distributed under the terms of the Creative Commons Attribution Non-Commercial License (http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nc/3.0) which permits unrestricted non-Commercial use, distribution, and reproduction in any medium, provided the original work is properly cited. In conclusion, we believe it is reasonable to understand ‘Pum-Jil品質’ based on the meaning of ‘evidence or similar rating for pledge (trust)’ from the view of humanities and exegetics. Recently, in the field of business administration, the idea that ambidexterity of exploration and exploitation is necessary for organizations to continue to generate value in a sustainable manner has been attracting attention. Although the balance between exploration and exploitation is also considered to be important in engineering research and development and design, research from such a perspective has not been conducted. We have been analyzing the ambidexterity of exploration and exploitation from the perspective of design, and developing a method to evaluate the degree of ambidexterity objectively and quantitatively. In this paper, the definitions of exploration and exploitation in design, a quantitative evaluation method for the degree of exploration based on the definitions, and the results of the verification of this method are presented. The evaluation method is developed on the basis of the definition that focuses on whether the design object has changed qualitatively or quantitatively as a result of the organization’s activity. In this method, words related to the functions of the target product are extracted from the design documents, and their similarity to those in past documents is evaluated. As a result of applying the proposed method to the descriptions of past products, for which the relationship between exploration and exploitation has been clarified, it is shown that the proposed method can be appropriate as an evaluation method for exploration.

This paper elucidates the process of creating and maintaining a successful librarian-faculty partnership which originally was intended as a quality improvement tool for a bachelor program in business administration at University West, Sweden. In 2012, after receiving criticism from the Swedish Council for Higher Education regarding the learning outcomes of students’ information literacy skills within the field of business administration, the process of regeneration started.
A quality improvement process called “A Scientific Wave” was initiated to support the student's development regarding skills in critical and analytical approaches, presentation techniques and media and information literacy skills. The Scientific Wave includes different quality aspects and applies a holistic approach to improve education quality and accentuate progression of knowledge throughout all courses of the program. Furthermore, work-integrated learning, WIL, is applied as an educational and pedagogical model throughout the program to reinforce the link between work life and learning - theory and practice. Earlier research states that successful integration of media and information literacy in higher education should be based on close collaboration between librarians and discipline faculty, strategic anchoring and visualization in curriculums, syllabi, course objectives and examinations, and developed in line with the mission of the university. The Scientific Wave is here viewed as a co-creative continuous process based on the separate but still complementary skills of librarians and faculty to provide students with tools for critical and creative thinking in today’s digital society.

In this paper, the concept of "sport administration" was defined. Sport administration is a specialized field of sport sciences as well as a part of the field of business administration classified by each industry. In previous studies on sport administration, there has not been a common understanding of the concept of sport administration among researchers. Accordingly the nature and meanings of sport administration as a special field of business administration was examined in this paper by reviewing the Japanese literature on those subjects. Sport administration is a type of cooperative system for business administration. Cooperative systems for business administration are distinguished from other types of cooperative systems on account of their involvement in the supply of goods and services. Thus cooperative systems in general, such as a cooperative system for learning and the one for competitive sport, are not the object of research in sport administration. Sport business is a key concept to define sport administration. Sport administration means a cooperative system for managing sport business. Business is defined in previous studies as works to supply necessary goods and services and as the process that changes these procured goods and services into some utilities or values. The objective of sport business is to supply services involved in the diverse functions of sport provision and to enrich people's life with sport involvement. Sport administration is a united whole of organization and management for sport business, and aims at making common benefit for all members contributing to sport business.

[Purpose]The purpose of this study is to analyze the research trends of ESG research in Korea, focusing on the fields of business administration and accounting, using topic modeling.
[Methodology]This study focuses on the keyword ‘ESG’ published in domestic academic journals. To this end, as of June 30, 2023, a total of 404 studies of business administration and accounting studies calculated with ‘ESG’ as a search term in the Korea Citation Index are the subject of research. Specifically, morpheme analysis was performed using R, keyword frequency analysis was performed, and frequency analysis and Big-data analysis(data mining, topic modeling) were performed through the extracted keywords.
[Findings]As a result of this study, five topics were calculated. Specifically, Topic 1 is the role of the environment for management sustainability, Topic 2 is Implications for enhancing corporate value, Topic 3 is Strategy according to economic conditions, Topic 4 is Decision-making at the governance level, Topic 5 is Evaluation and utilization It is a responsibility.
[Implications]This study is different in that it analyzes research trends using the big data analysis method with the keyword ‘ESG’ limited to business administration and accounting among social sciences. In the meantime, many studies have been conducted in business administration and accounting, but there are not many studies that apply big data methods such as topic modeling. This study has significance in that it goes one step further from the existing research methodology, reduces the subjective opinions of researchers, and identifies macroscopic research trends based on a lot of data through the Big-data methodology.
