Abstract
Self-excited induction generators (SEIGs) require carefully designed capacitor banks to maintain stable operation. This paper compares a capacitor bank design approach based on general parameters with one derived from the magnetizing reactance of three-phase induction generators. Finite element method simulations in Simulink are used to analyze and optimize the performance of these capacitor bank configurations. The results provide insights into the most effective designs for achieving reliable self-excitation in induction generators.
