Abstract
Data on the location of explored oil and gas fields and oil and gas prospects were analysed. The fields are ranked according to the service life and the level of equipment wear. It is shown that the most worn-out are the deposits of Western Ukraine. The main ways of occurrence of environmental pollution during the operation of oil and gas wells are determined. The peculiarities of nature protection territories located near or directly on the territory of oil and gas fields have been established. On the example of the Dovbushansko-Bystrytske field, zones of the potential impact on protected areas have been identified and ranked.
