Abstract

Abstract: This study emphasizes the existing situation of heritage tourism sites and their effects on local tourism in Sindh, Pakistan. The Hyderabad City of Sindh Province is taken a study area. This study aims to assess the factors causing heritage site deterioration and their effects on local tourism in Hyderabad. Examining the present state of heritage sites and their effects, a standardized questionnaire designed and collected the data from domestic tourists. Data are analyzed employing descriptive statistics frequency analysis techniques in SPSS. Study outcomes revealed that the heritage sites in Hyderabad are being neglected by concerned authorities to preserve and manage them; people tenured the heritage buildings for living purposes as well as transitioning them into the general commercial uses, thus; heritage sites have become overcrowded. People do not have proper accessibility to reach heritage tourism sites. Moreover; cultural tourism sites are lacking the necessary facilities for tourists. Hence, heritage sites are deteriorating consistently and maybe disappear in future. However, study findings may help the policymakers, tourism experts and administration, and other stakeholders while decision making to preserve and manage the heritage sites, and to promote the cultural tourism in Sindh, Pakistan.
