Abstract
In the school media center, library has given way to skills which is integrated into the school's curriculum. Because of the media specialist's roles as teacher and instructional consultant, it is imperative that the media specialist is able to design and assess information skills instruction. While several models have been advanced for the teaching of information skills, needed are guidelines for the assessment of information skills. This article provides an overview of the assessment literature and proposes a model for assessing information skills instruction using principles advocated in outcome-based education.
