Abstract

Abstract Solvothermal reactions of barium and cobalt ions with pyridine-3,5-dicarboxylic acid (3,5-pdc) in DMF/water lead to a novel three-dimensional heterometallic compound: [Ba2Co(pdc)2(HCO2)2(H2O)4] 1. Compound 1 contains two distinct building units: 8-connected [Co(pdc)2] metalloligands and 4-connected [Ba(HCO2)2(CO2)4] tetrahedron. Two types of building units are further connected to assembly a heterometallic organic framework with a scarcely reported 4,8-connected fluorite net. Furthermore, the IR, PXRD and luminescent properties were also investigated.
