Abstract

In many ways, the Association for the Sociology of Religion is in excellent shape as we enter 2021. The planning for our meeting in Chicago—“Communicating Religion’s Relevance”—is underway, and we continue moving forward with Oxford University Press as the publisher of our journal, Gerardo Marti as its outgoing editor, and Joseph O. Baker as its incoming editor. The 2021 meeting is being organized by our Program Committee, ASR 2020–2021 President, James C. Cavendish, our Program Chair, Brian Starks, and me as your Executive Officer. We can look forward to engaging sessions, Presidential and Furfey (Kelsey Burke) lectures, and receptions. Our opening night reception will be on Saturday, August 7 during which we will have our awards ceremony to recognize the winners of the McNamara Student Paper Award, Distinguished Sociology of Religion Article Award, and the Lifetime Achievement Award. We will continue our two-day meeting pattern with approximately five to seven simultaneous sessions taking place throughout Sunday and Monday, August 8 and 9.
