Abstract

Appreciable differences in the conveying efficiency and amount of damage to material being conveyed were apparent during tests with a number of small auger grain conveyors (up to 4½ in dia), even between conveyors of the same nominal size. A comparison of the results and of the detailed design of the augers has shown that the clearance between the auger screw and tube, and a restriction such as an internal intake slide, have a marked effect.
