Abstract

The scenario of broiler farming in Brazil is currently highly prominent, with the country ranking as the second-largest producer and the leading exporter. To ensure efficient production, proper sanitary management of the birds throughout the production cycle is essential. Consequently, the interval between batches and the entire sanitary process involved in this period play a crucial role in the birds' optimal performance. The objective of this review is to discuss the main topics addressed in the sanitary management of the interval between batches of broiler chickens. For this purpose, research was conducted in scientific articles and specialized journals on the subject. It was observed that different methods can be employed during this period; however, all of them share the common goal of achieving the maximum reduction in the microbiological load of the environment to prevent contamination and the spread of diseases, thereby maximizing the zootechnical potential of these birds.
