SummaryMetathelazia caballeroi Quentin and Krishnasamy, 1977, a pneumospirurid nematode described from the bronchi and duodenum of the tupaiid primate, Tupaia glis (Diard, 1820) in Malaysia is reported from the bronchi of the giant white-tailed rat, Uromys caudimaculatus (Krefft, 1867) from the East McIlwraith Ranges, Cape York Peninsula, north Queensland. Metathelazia naghiensis Spratt, 1980 is reported from the lungs of Peramelidae and Dasyuridae from northern, eastern and southern Australia. Spirura aurangabadensis (Ali & Lovekar, 1967), a spirurid nematode, is reported from the oesophagus of Dasyuridae, Peramelidae, Rhinolophidae and Muridae from northern, eastern, southern and western Australia. The increasing knowledge of mammalian hosts, particularly rodents, and their nematode parasites from southeast Asia, Papua New Guinea and Australia is revealing increasingly complex patterns of relationships associated with the origin and direction of movement of hosts and the biogeographical, climatic and ecological conditions they and their parasites encounter.
