Abstract

The terrorist attacks on September 11 had a profound effect on the lives of all Americans, including Asian Americans severely impacted by the economic downturn and subject to a virulent backlash directed against immigrant and minority groups. New advocacy priorities and research needs have emerged since 9/11, and we feel that this is a critical juncture at which to identify a post-9/11 Asian American civil rights advocacy and research agenda.In this essay we highlight some pressing civil rights concerns and critical research areas around which we propose a current civil rights advocacy and research agenda should be built.
