ASHP Pharmacy Technician Excellence Award.

Abstract

Barbara Lacher Barbara E. Lacher BS, RPhT, CPhT, is the 2022 recipient of the ASHP Board of Directors Pharmacy Technician Excellence Award. The award recognizes contributions to excellence in the role of pharmacy technicians and advancement of the pharmacy technician workforce and pharmacy practice. Before her retirement, Lacher was pharmacy technician program director at the North Dakota State College of Science in Wahpeton. During her two decades at the college, she served on committees, including the Curriculum Committee and the Tenure Ranking Committee, and she was a member of the faculty Senate. Lacher is author of the textbook Pharmaceutical Calculations for the Pharmacy Technicians and has edited 2 editions of ASHP’s Pharmacy Technician Certification Review and Practice Exam. Her history of leadership includes serving as president and parliamentarian of the Northland Association of Pharmacy Technicians (NAPT) and as the association’s liaison with the North Dakota State College of Science. Lacher received NAPT’s Technician of the Year Award in 1998. She has also held appointments as secretary and treasurer of the Pharmacy Technician Educators Council and is a past recipient of the council’s Roy Kemp Award for excellence in teaching.
