Abstract

This study aims to present the miriti toy as a cultural artifact so that it can reflect on their contribution in building socio-cultural background of the children and their learning. The methodology used is the qualitative approach, through a bibliographic study. With focus miriti the toy as a catalyst element in this construction process. The miriti toy is a characteristic craft the Amazon, which is part of the daily life of the State of Para riverside, especially the inhabitants of the town of Abaetetuba. The palm tree miriti has several utilities that represents the local culture, such as splint basketry, straw houses for cover, miriti toy among others. Toys gained notoriety for expressing the imaginary place, with its colorful and lightness. During religious festivals, especially that of Our Lady of Nazareth, the miriti toys receive special attention, as they are displayed in the squares or marketed girândolas. It was created in the town of Abaetetuba the Miriti Festival, popularly known as MiritiFest, in order to show the production of the toy and for commercial purposes. The festival was highlighted size that has been transformed into cultural heritage of the State of Para. Through the construction toy that promotes the interaction with nature and their history, and contributes to the creation of a targeted environment for the construction of knowledge and relationships social.
