Abstract

Effect of optimal concentration of propyl gallate (25 μg/ml) on inorganic and lipid peroxides was studied in banana fruitfly, Zaprionus paravittiger. Both the peroxides significantly increased with age and decreased on antioxidant feeding to insects. The reduction was more pronounced in females and in young stages as compared to males and in old age. The results are indicative of the protective role of propyl gallate against free radicals.
