Abstract

The analysis of time and space in a work of art - the chronotope is one of the most pressing problems of modern research. The purpose of the work is to acquaint specialists with the aesthetic function of the chronotope in the stories of V. Bykov. The technique of structural, comparative-typological and intertextual analysis was used. The study revealed the role of retrospections. V. Bykov's retrospectives are complex, the author examines several time layers. The concept of time causes the destruction of the plot, which cannot be restored in chronological (plot) sequence. The depiction of time and space used by the writer makes it possible to reveal the character of a person in an extreme situation as concisely and convincingly as possible. The result of the analysis is the conclusion that the stories of V. Bykov are a significant stage in the evolution of artistic thinking.
