Arterial Reconstruction to the Anterior Tibial Artery at the Ankle

Abstract

Reconstructive arterial surgical procedures have progressively improved with time. Refinement in instruments, increased surgical experience, and better understanding of the pathophysiology of arterial disease have enabled the surgeon to reestablish circulation to distal sites heretofore believed uncorrectable. Reported here is the technique used to restore blood flow to the distal anterior tibial artery and foot. Progressive refinements in vascular surgical techniques will continue to reduce the limitation in salvage of limbs with arterial disease.
