Abstract

The Research Committee of the Faculty of Arts considers that it is important to hold a debate on the lines of research that currently guide the projects of the Faculty. To debate on the relevance or not of a line of investigation implies to recognize if there are active projects in it, if it includes diverse topics and if it follows the formats proposed by Colciencias. The truth is that after several contests we decided to propose to Calle14 to make two issues about the concept of research lines. This is the first. In the Editorial Committee of the magazine there was then a debate on the relevance or not of dedicating two numbers to the existing lines in the Faculty: Art and society, Art and pedagogy, Art and popular traditional cultures, Aesthetics and theories of art, Studies Arts and Cultural Studies. For different reasons it was finally approved to dedicate the following two numbers to a single line: Art and pedagogy. The strongest argument that supported this decision is that pedagogy, both in concept and in practice, is necessary and innate to a Faculty of Arts. If we understand it as the knowledge that deals with education and teaching argued, effective, analytical and projective, the pedagogue, in addition to instruct, guide and prepare, is also the one who accompanies a process, leads without forcing it and shows multiple options to get to be a professional in the arts. So it is not unreasonable to dedicate two issues to a subject as relevant as art and pedagogy, where even the 'y', which is normally understood as a connector, can be interpreted as something that divides, fragments. For that reason, it may be more comprehensive to talk about the pedagogy of art or the pedagogy of the arts.
